ENA (Greek UNO Card Game)

ἔπαισας ποτὲ τὴν παιδία Ἑνά;

For those who want a little fun in their life, and want to improve their Greek, I have translated the UNO instructions into ancient Greek. There are still a few errors and changes of terms, but you can find the instructions and other documents as shown below:

Λεωνίδας τοῦ Σορένος

There is now a You-Tube video of a guy playing Uno in Ancient Greek with his son.

You learn the colors and the words αιρω (I take up a card) and καταβαλλω (I am putting down a card.) If you watch carefully, you’ll notice that the guy cheats at one point, so his triumphant boast νικω is a bit spurious.

N. B. παιγνιον is one of several Greek words for “game.”
