I enjoyed very much this lecture by Eleanor Dickey based on her “learning latin the ancient way book.” It was good to be reminded about what these collections of teaching materials have to tell us about the Roman culture. She is an engaging and at time hilarious speaker.

Yes, very nice to see the lady herself in lecture mode and showing such fine enthusiasm for her subject. I’ve been using portions of the Colloquia for several years now to supplement my own teaching, and it’s always a big hit. I even wrote Dr. Dicky a fan boy letter thanking her, and she actually responded. Made my day.
