I trust all our fellow textkitters in California are well?

The song “Shake, Rattle, & Roll” comes to mind… ![]()
All is well over here. I didn’t feel a thing because I was driving on the highway at the time. But my coworkers in a downtown highrise felt it.
I’m happy to hear that not too many people died from this quake, it was mostly property damage.
It’s just Mother Nature’s way of reminding us of how small we are in the scheme of things.
Well, I thought it was Jormungand the Midgaard Serpend that shakes the world. ![]()
I didn’t hear about a quake! how big was it??
The news here today is only about the mad cow discovery in Washington, and oooh, how is Canada going to react??
Mad cow? What mad cow? I didn’t hear about a mad cow!
I didn’t know there had been an earthquake, either. I hope it didn’t do too much damage, either to property or to lives!
Benissimus is usually on daily. I haven’t heard from him in 2 days. ![]()
As much as I argue with him I hope he’s well. Sanitas tecum benissime.
According to his profile, his most recent post was in this thread:

but that was 40 hours ago.
He is in California, so perhaps his electricity is off.
I heard about the quake on the radio, heard about mad cow disease too, it’s big news here, strange you haven’t heard it yet.
Unfortunately here it was 30 secs of earthquake news (6.5?!?) and then the rest on mad cows and whatnot. I hope Benissimus and all the rest are safe as Christmas season is in full swing.
I didn’t really feel the ground shake. I was in the second floor of my house when it happened. At first I thought I was having one of those dizzy spells. The only sign of an earthquake was the blinds swaying. I think benissimus is okay because I don’t think he lives in southern Cali.
I don’t know where in CA Benissimus normally lives, but he said he was visiting folks in another state for Christmas (which probably means no internet access till he returns home). So - no worries.
Apart from the one small news item on the radio I’ve heard nothing more of the quake in the US, but I’m sure we’ll be hearing a lot about the one in Iran… ![]()
wow, I just now read about the Iran one. That’s awful! Possibly up to 10,000 people dying, in a population of only 80,000. What a devastating thing to happen to a city.
Poseidon is busy these days. ![]()
I heard it was about 20,000. And the number of casualty reached 50,000 last time. “Disaster” is too weak a word. The event is shown in the movie of Abbas Kiarostami, “Through the Olive Trees”. They must be living right above the spine of Jormungand, or of Poseidon, whoever.
Ouch…20,000 is a big number! (Or is that stating the obvious?)
Now there’s been a mudslide somewhere in Southern California. Apparently the a lot of vegetation was destroyed during those wildfires, so there wasn’t anything to hold the soil on the hill, and down it came.
Seems to be. And the count rised to 25,000 during the weekend. ![]()

California never seems to get a break, does it?
