Quid sententia anglice “cum parva manu equitum” habet?

manus can often refer to a band of men or soldiers, which seems to be its sense here - “with the knights’ small band of men”. Odd that there are more equites than manus, but the context probably makes better sense of it.

Edit: It occurs to me now that equitum is more probably descriptive than possessive - “with a small band of knights”, then.
