Copying text from Perseus to save typing labor

Here is the problem: Copying and pasting from Perseus saves a lot of typing work, but when I copy from Perseus & paste directly into the textkit editer (i. e. this space ) it looks fine until I actually post. As posted the xml (or is it html?) markup language is included, which is most unsatisfactory.

Here is one solution: I copy the Perseus text into the linux text editor xed. xed seems to accept only the text and in the process seems to strip out the markup language, whatever it is. Whatever happens in xed, when I copy from xed into the textkit editor, the markup language is gone.

Have I overlooked some better way of doing this?

Is pasting unformatted text an option (the shortcut is ctrl shift and v)?

Gotta try ctrl shift and v.

Yay! It worked. I have been fiddling with computers since the 1980s and didn’t know about ctrl shift and v. Many thanks to MattK!

No problem - it’s a shortcut that’s saved me a lot of time!

I’ve found that remapping Ctrl+Shitf+V in LibreOffice to paste unformatted text (instead of the default, which opens up an options dialogue) further saved me countless hours.
