Bored housewife here.

Hello, I am a former student of Latin, attempting to regain my glorious youth by systematically attacking Wheelock, chapter by chapter. I have 3 children who invariably are the enemy of learning, wresting my attention away from said book as often as possible. Little do they know that they too, will one day be plied with Catullus and Cicero. My revenge will be sweet.

When I am not a housewife and full-time mother, I am a high-school English teacher in training, completing my credential bit by bit. Also a runner training for a 10K. And an avid reader, of course–I’d hazard a guess and say that most people here are, no?

Also, if Dr. Norma Engberg from my alma mater (UNLV) is on this board, I’d just like to say “howdy!” She’s a real peach.

Welcome!

A full plate you have but you’re in luck for there are many devotees of the Wheelock persuasion here who will help support you as you go.

Salve!

Welcome to Textkit! Good luck with your Latin studies!

God. I wish my mother would study Latin. Thus a hearty good luck from me.
Not but an idle salve. Good on you for rising above the (has to be!) boring housewifery. If that be a noun.

I discovered this site a few months ago and isn’t it great?! All these people who enjoy learning for the sake of learning! I love this place. I’m kind of part housewife part office temp, and most of my free time goes toward foreign language studies. I’ve spent years on Hebrew, I started Ancient Greek a few months ago, and hope to start with Latin soon. I live in California too!

Welcome.

Running rules, especially running of the long 10k kind.

housewifery - modern - being a housewife
’ ’ - Shakespearean - being a whore

Episcopus, I guess you’re post-Shakesperean, right?

Salve, and welcome to the fora.

Thank you all, it’s so nice to be welcomed and not be mistaken as “Cicero’s Mum.”

cough
Salve

WEll its been about a year since you began your studies how are they going?

Bienvenidos a Textkit!
Wheelock’s rocks!

How many people have come to textkit an absolute beginner and left with at least a basic knowledge? How many have actually completed a course? At least when I say that I am going to do something I bloody do it.

Hi-
Also a housewife here. How old are the kids? I like to impress the kids once in awhile (not quite ready to impress anyone else yet) "Did you know Nemo means ‘nobody’(just learned that word the other day) or “Epona (Link’s horse from the Zelda series) is named after a Celtic goddess” In fact, you’d be amazed how many cartoons/video games make classics references.
