Many thanks for your help!

It was the beginning of the third watch when the wise men reached the little town of Bethlehem. The star they had followed for so many weeks shone with steady brightness directly above the inn.

Tertia vigilia incipiente, magi pervenerunt ad civitatem Bethlehem. Et ecce stabat stella, quam tam multos dies secuti erant, clare lucens supra deversorium.

Yes, a child, newly born, is here. He is yonder in the manger — but why –
Bring us to him!
We have found the redeemer of the world! Blessed, blessed are we above men!

Ita, modo genitus infans adest. Illic in præsepio inest. – sed cur –
Adduc nos ad eum!
Invenimus redemptorem mundi! Beati, beati sumus præ hominibus!

Doing homage before the mother and the child, the wise men tendered gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

Procidentes ante matrem puerumque, magi obtulerunt munera, aurum, thus, et myrrham.

In answer to a heavenly message, the wise men did not report their discovery to the scheming and tyrannical Herod, but avoiding him, hurried home to their own countries by another route.

Graece

Utique, modo genitus infans adest hic. Illic in praesepio inest.
utique a bit overdone for a simple confirmation? Just ita enough?
hic better deleted. It’s covered by adest, and is hardly coheres with illic.

Sim. with ενταυθα.

Et cælitus responso accepto
Et mandato e caelo (ab eis) accepto?

ne renuntiaverunt quidem inventum Herodi
quae/quod invenerant non ren. Her. …, sed

in regionem suam: in regiones suas, unless you want to use quisque.

Many thanks, Michael. I took responso accepto from the Vulgate Mt 2:12 for χρηματισθέντες, but it doesn’t need to be the same.
