I will be picking up other things as I go though and going through some YouTube videos. I recognize a fair amount of words with Latin cognates and so on, and I figured a Bible-related book would be good as I just took a course in English on the gospels last year with my philosophy professor (and read quite a bit of it in Latin also, used to attend Latin masses as a kid), so I have brushed up on the source material a bit. Everyone seems to mention Athenaze so I’ve got that in my amazon cart as well
Mainly just looking to get a grasp of grammar and a bit of vocabulary for now. My Latin has improved quite a bit since I’ve been studying it again for a year or so (after lapsing for 25+ years) so I feel ok with looking a bit at other stuff, while still primarily focusing on Latin, though.
If you’re dipping your toes into Biblical Greek, I cannot recommend Mark Jeong’s A Greek Reader: A Companion to A Primer of Biblical Greek enough for easy to read material in Greek. Being able to read and understand these stories really helped to retain/master what I’d learned.
If for some reason “Basic Greek in 30 Minutes a Day” doesn’t work out for you (I’ve never looked at it), Clayton Croy’s A Primer of Biblical Greek is the Greek textbook I settled on after trying (but then walking away from) several others.
