I think it was not yet mentioned on this forum, that the Greek-French dictionary (Bailly, 1935) has been transcribed and can be downloaded in PDF format.
They revised the etymologies from Beekes instead of Chantraine? (!!) Though Chantraine is mentioned in the “on a secondairement consulté” list.
But it fits with the decision to name the effort after Hugo Chávez instead of Robespierre, I suppose.
Yes, it’s disgusting the fact that they mixed the good old Bailly with dirty politics. Come on! How could they dare to name it after a bloody dictator who ruined his country and made his people miserable? What this banana republic (no offense intended to Venezuela, it’s about the freaking Chavez) dictator has to do with the classical studies? Now, they are complaining that almost nobody donates to their project. How could a reasonable person spend any money to help a project that supports a f***ing dictator? It’s a pity. Are those guys behind the project completely retarded? What would they think if someone would do the same and name a Bailly project after Le Pen, Hitler, PolPot, Mao or Stalin?
whatever… c’est un excellent ouvrage, l’un de mes préférés
