Heart in mouth, I submit the following translation attempt, if anyone is willing to offer a critique. The context is datives and prepositions. I’m grateful for any help.

  1. Aren’t you willing to obey me, boy?
    ἆρ’ οὐκ ἐθέλεις πείθεσθαί με, ὦ παῖ;
  2. Tell me the story.
    λέγε μοι τὸν μῦθον
  3. I hand the plow over to you.
    παρέχω σοι τὸν ἄροτρον
  4. The farmer has a big ox.
    ἔστι τῷ αὐτουργῷ μέγαν βοῦν
  5. The young man, called Theseus, leads his comrades bravely.
    ὁ νεανίας ὀνόματι Θησεύς ἀνδρείως ἄγει τοὺς ἑταίρους
  6. The boy strikes the wolf with a stone.
    ὁ παῖς βάλλει τὸν λύκον λίθῳ
  7. The girl hands over food to her friend.
    ἡ παρθένος παρέχει σῖτον τῇ φίλῃ
  8. The slave strikes the oxen with a goad.
    ὁ δοῦλος τύπτει τούς βοῦς τῷ κέντρῳ
  9. The girl approaches the gates.
    ἡ παρθένος προσχωρεῖ ταῖς πύλαις
  10. On the next day the Athenians flee out of the labyrinth.
    τῇ ὑστεραίᾳ αἱ Ἀθηναῖοι ἐκφεύγει ἐκ τοῦ λαβυρίνθου

A very promising start. The only significant mistakes I spot are:

  1. πείθεσθαί με > μοι.
  2. τὸν ἄροτρον > τὸ
  3. μέγαν βοῦν > μέγας βοῦς
  4. τῷ κέντρῳ delete article
  5. αἱ Ἀθηναῖοι ἐκφεύγει > oἱ Ἀθ. (ἐκ)φεύγουσιν
    Keep up the good work!

Doh! Some silly, annoying mistakes there, that I should not have made. And one or two that I hadn’t understood - like ‘ἔστι’ requiring nominative case, despite meaning ‘he has’ in this instance - and getting thrown by the feminine pronoun for ‘Athens’ itself.

Best not to think of ἔστι as “meaning” “he has” in this usage. Just learn and remember how Greek uses εστι with dative.
