Anyone using Learn To Read Latin?

It seems like most of Textkit members prefer Lingua Latina over
other textbooks, but I didn’t see anyone mention Learn To Read Latin.
I’m planning on buying this book (I’m using Cambridge right now).
What do you think of this book?

Thanks in advance!

I used it after finishing the Weelock. I’d say that it’s more intensive and better organised in the respect of grammar, providing also a much greater amount of unabridged passages with glossies, as well as generous information about the authors, metres, rhetorical terms, etc. The advantage is that this is a primer&intermediate-reader in one, and its selections are well balanced between prose and verse.
A bit difficult if you are to learn it on you own though, for there are almost no commentary for the reading materials, all of which wild latin taken from Cicero, Virgil, Horace, etc. But if you have got some experience in Latin already, or have constant access to an instructor, things would go on just fine.
There is also an excercise book avaivable, which would provide you with more than enough trainings in both latin-english and english-latin translations.

Why do you want to switch from the Cambridge series? Switching from book to book will only slow you down. You might consider continuing with what you have started with and afterwards taking a look through Learn To Read Latin. I don’t think this text is geared towards independent learning, unless–as WangWei wrote–you already have background in the language or have access to a tutor.
