Is anyone aware of a good ancient Greek dictionary app for ios, which allows one to input latin characters to get ancient Greek results? I do have an app called “Ancient Greek” which has a dictionary function, but I have not had a lot of luck with it, and usually end up needing to resort to my desktop PC software (I am using Myosotis) in order to get clarity. It would be convenient in many situations to be able to search directly from my phone, so any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
Don’t know of an app that uses Latin input for Greek, but Logeion is excellent on the iPhone.
You need to enter search terms in Greek, but that’s easy with the Hoplite Polytonic Greek Keyboard. Once you’ve downloaded and installed it, you just switch between keyboards by tapping the globe in the bottom left-hand corner of the keyboard.
Both Logeion and the Hoplite keyboard are free and can be downloaded from the App Store.
thanks for your helpful suggestion. I’m using them now!
I’m finding the Atticos app very helpful for iPhones and iPads. It gives you lots of Greek texts. Then when reading a text, by clicking on a word, you can call up parsing and a short definition, as well as the choice to see full dictionary entry. Attikos is in the Apple app store.
Look here for information: https://attikos.org/
I have very little knowledge of iOS or iPhone, but it seems MDict supports these platforms, and my version of Liddell & Scott is compatible with MDict (has been tested on Android).
P.S. Using L&S, you can search for “κορη” or “korh” and get the same result.
