Affordable Greek and Latin Texts

As it happens, the French take Classics very seriously. I just discovered this line of affordable bilingual texts from the French publisher Les Belles Lettres:

They also have lines of more high quality texts (for varying prices):

If you can put up with the French textual apparatus and facing translation, it might be the thing for you.

As I understand, there are thriving communities of classical studies in other countries as well. Does anyone know of Italian, German, or Spanish publishing houses that are doing something similar?

There are many many Italian editions. The BUR comes to mind as perhaps the most accessible and cheap — sometimes very cheap —, but there are many others. If you look at ibs.it or at the Italian Amazon and search for an author or text (in the Italian version of the name), the vast majority of the classical texts will be bilingual. Look for “Testo latino/greco a fronte”, but also many that don’t say that online will be bilingual. (This one, for instance.)

In Mexico there is the Bibliotheca Scriptorum Graecorum et Romanorum Mexicana, published by the Classics Institute of the National University of Mexico. This bilingual collection is very cheap and usually comes with a magnificent and very eruditus introductory study of no less than 70 pages. Hardcover and paperback versions are of great quality. It has published almost all the basic classical texts from Cicero, Seneca, Lucretius, Virgil, Ovid, Caesar, Propertius, Horace, Plato, Aristotle, Epicureus, Homer, Hesiod, among many other authors.

There are plenty of (mostly out of print) bilingual and annotated editions available on Google Books, archive.org or, if you prefer physical books, abebooks.com
