Ad Alpes - no dictionary entry?

In Ad Alpes, Caput XX, the story of Atalanta is narrated and the following clause refers to Hippomenes and his insistence on racing despite the consequences of losing…

Ille autem in sententia peraeverat; …

What is the verb peraeverat? I can’t seem to find an entry in Ad Alpes vocabulary or Cactus. I am pretty sure it is pluperfect.
What am I missing?
Thanks

BTW, a very fun book to read!

This is a typo: It should be perseverat instead of peraeverat.

in sententia perseverare is the same as in sententia permanere / perstare.

Laurentius is correct. The correct sentence is:

Ille autem in sententia perseverat.

The problem that I have always found with OCRed pdf texts is that they have many errors. I guess it’s no one’s fault, OCR is quite a long and exhaustive process prone to many errors. I suggest you download the original pdf without OCR from “archive org”, and when in doubt consult it.

Thanks for the quick reply. That helps a lot.

What I have is a epub version, but I can’t recall the source. It might have been from fadedpage.com.
In any case, this is the first problem I’ve come across.

If you are reading the version of fadedpage.com, then you could report all errors on the page:
https://www.fadedpage.com/showbook.php?pid=20210866

P.S. I have informed them about “peraeverat”.

I didn’t know about reporting errors, I’ll keep that in mind.

And I’ll also get the pdf version to check if I see potential mistakes in the epub version.

Thanks to all.
