I wonder if they will use historically correct pronunciation or Italianate?
Like Matteo Rovere’s film il Primo Re, which came out earlier this year (at least here in Italy), this series will be in proto-Latin.
For the movie Rovere had a team from Sapienza Roma translate his script into a form of archaic Latin in order to accurately present the language spoken half a millennium before our earliest literary works. They also guided the pronunciation which naturally leaned more towards our Classical one. A photograph of about half a page of the screenplay is floating around on the net somewhere, I tried to find it again but with little success.
Had things like “ubi eyat”, “saga esat”, and “fuid sakrom egnim.”
So to answer your question, neither.
I enjoyed the film and so I’m hoping this series will have the same eye for detail. It was fun when the Latin was at times clear enough to understand.
