A Salutation

Paul Derouda has many times urged me to join this forum, but my self-criticism has thus far been too high. I now try to lower it, though hopefully not too much. I major in Latin and minor in Greek, and have a smattering of a few other languages I have taken classes in. Sanskrit and Persian are—in addition to Latin and Greek—particularly close to my heart.

My native language is Finnish, which will explain the deficiencies of my English. I live in the Helsinki Region in Finland.

Χαῖρε!

Paul has made many great contributions to this forum. ὁ οὖν φίλος τούτου ἐστὶν ὁ ἡμῶν.

If it makes you feel any better, just remember that your English is better than my Greek.

Χαῖρε φίλε!

Καὶ ὑμεῖς χαίρετε, ὦ Ἰωήλ τε Μᾶρκέ τε καὶ Παῦλε.

I see that you left out the vocative particle ὦ. A Homeric practice, dare I presume?
