Translation help....please...

This is probably really easy for most people, but i’m really having a hard time translating this sentence. My prof makes us do a cumulative metaphrase and go word by word, and frankly, i’m not sure where to put all the words…

This is as far as i’ve gotten and it’s no where near recognizable english… help?

Pueri malī cum ā gladiātoribus visī sunt, cum sapientiā fugient.

Boys V.
Bad Boys, with _____, V.
Bad Boys, with _____, V from DO.
Bad Boys, with gladiators, V from DO.
Bad Boys, having been seen with gladiators from DO.
Bad boys, having been seen together with gladiators, see with wisdom.

[I think this is how the final sentence is suppossed be, but I have no idea where to put the ā… I know it means by or from, but it doesn’t make sense anywhere…]

cum can also mean “when” (and does here).

fugient does not mean “see”.

a (ab) is a preposition which means “(away) from”. When there is a passive verb (which there is), it means “by (the gladiators)”.
