Translation Help - "Held to a higher standard"

Hi everyone

So happy to be here, and I’m hoping you can help me with a translation? I’m working with ancient Roman ethics and virtues, and how they relate to the collective wellbeing for all - dignitas, veritas, honestas, clementia, salubritas etc. More specifically relating to goddess Minerva.

I’d like to title my paper “Held to a higher standard” but I’m not 100% sure how to write that? Would it be “Tenuit vexillum ad altiorem”?

If I translated it wrong, can you tell me why so I can learn? Much appreciated! <3

I don’t think so. First, since you are trying to translate an idiomatic expression, you can hardly expect that a literal translation will make sense. Second I interpret “held” as the past participle of “to hold”. You translated it as the perfect active. Third vexillum is neuter, not masculine.

How about sublimiore norma moderati ? “norma” is in the ablative case and modified by the comparitive of “sublimis”. “moderati” is plural nominative and so refers to the Romans.
