This is a long shot, but I’m always amazed at the group knowledge on this board. Back in August 1998 my wife and I were in Barcelona. A few days we felt tired and worn down and we ended up watching a lot of MTV Germany in our hotel room. We do not speak German.
They played a lot of the same videos over and over including things from Eagle Eye Cherry, Heather Nova, Aerosmith and Rammstein.
There was this one music video we liked but we can’t recall the name of the artist. My wife and I have been trying for 8 years to remember the name and we always joke with each other about it, ‘Oh you’ll never believe who I heard on the radio today…’
It was a German song. Spelling in English, it sounded like ‘bee-ter-vi-zen’ or something like that. It was four syllables I think. I couldn’t really tell if it began with a B, W, or V. I’m not even sure if that is the name of the artist or the song. Could I be anymore vague.. perhaps not 
All we remember was it was a snappy upbeat pop song and in the video the singer wore this ridiculous fuzzy hat made from what looked like goat fur.
I have looked through music charts from the period to see if I can recognize a name, but with no luck. It’s so much harder in Europe because there are more charts and artists rise and fall much quicker than they do here in the States. MTV.de was no help. From the charts from that period it is NOT Westernhagen.
Ok, so amaze me! I know we have a a Bittervizen fan here
