The Philokalia and Climax

Hi all,

Does anyone know where one can find physical copies of the Philokalia and the Climax of John in their original Greek?

Strangley, there don’t seem to be any on sale anywhere online that I can find.

Does anyone know if they are published and in print in Greece or Cyprus? I’ve tried searching google.gr, but don’t really know where to begin looking (and my modern Greek is of a highly dubious nature). I don’t mind going on holidays to buy them if it comes to it…

Thanks,

A

You’ve probably already seen this, but here’s a link to the Φιλοκαλία:

I’ve just found this link to the Klimaka:

So far no luck finding hard copies. If all else fails, Bedwere can help you with getting PDF’s printed (relatively cheaply)

Thanks Aetos.

I’ve found a few online already as you expected, if it comes to it maybe print outs will have to do!

Alternativley I can annoy my priest about it, or copy them out by hand in Greek miniscule script and make an illuminated manuscript (should I ever go mad, anyway).

Maybe it is time for holidays afterall…

This is the Climax in Ancient Greek from Migne. The link provided by Aetos was for a modern Greek translation.

Sorry about that-I should have read a little further down. I had looked at a bunch of modern Greek translations, all in the monotonic system and when I found this with the polytonic typography, I hastily tacked it onto my post without really looking any further. What’s more embarrassing is this is the Greek I learned in Greek school (long before the monotonic system)! Fortunately, Bedwere came through with some really good links to the Google books. Now perhaps he can tell you how to get them printed without having to go on holidays.

The facsimile edition here is pretty good, if you want a physical copy: https://www.patrologiagraeca.org/patrologia/en/home.html

Thanks for all the help guys - I did notice it was in modern Greek, but assumed there was another link somewhere that I had yet to decipher!

And thanks for the link, jeidsath! There are a few things I want to look up in the Patrologia, but had assumed I would never find a way of getting any physical copies!
