the need for deputy administrators

Textkit has well set up so it go on for some time without anyone checking on it.
However approving new members is essential and seems to be a growing delay in this.

The obvious solution is a team of deputy administrators so that if somebody has a period when the are unable to devote much time to textkit others can take up the slack.
If those deputies also have the power to remove spam accounts so much the better.

I suggest that we could discuss among ourselves as who have over the years shown themselves to be trustworthy so it will be easy for Jeff to select from such a list those who he felt to be appropriate.

I agree with you. It’s for Jeff to decide of course, but for me this seems a good idea.

I volunteer if others volunteer as well. And you too seem trustworthy enough to me, Daivid, if you’d be willing to do it. Anyway, I think the generally polite tone of this (most of the time unmoderated!) forum shows that most if not all regular posters have shown themselves trustworthy.

Technically, I don’t suppose it’s much more complicated than the daily chore of discarding all the spam from your mailbox. Don’t know for sure though, because I have no experience.

I would be willing to do it as part of a team and would certainly recommend you to Jeff as trustworthy. I also would be hard pressed to think of anyone who is a regular poster and is not trustworthy.
