I’ve enrolled in this 6mo weekly seminar series that reads one book per week of The Iliad (Wilson, Alexander, Lattimore recommended) - 90min Zoom meetings Tuesday evenings April - September 2024.
As a beginner studying Pharr 4th Ed, I enjoy reading various translations of The Iliad in English and picking out bits and pieces to track back to the Homeric Greek. Wilson’s translation has 100 pages of notes that often discuss interesting/curious points of translation.
Those facile in Homeric Greek might find the discussions interesting. I’m just finishing a weekly 2mo seminar discussion of Wilson’s translation and everyone has read The Iliad 1+ times, even if not Wilson’s new translation, so it’s not a bunch of newbies on their 1st read. Most participants are “mature”, even if not borderline elderly like me!
