Teaching kids Latin

We homeschool my daughter who is going into 2nd grade this fall and I am trying to find a good beginners Latin program for her. I have no previous experience with Latin but have started D’Ooge (about 2 weeks ago). I am trying to get a head start on whatever program I get for her. Does anyone have experience (good or bad) with any of the childrens programs out there.

Thanks, in advance, for any help you can provide.

When some friends of mine were teaching their young children latin, they did not use a specific program, but simply started teaching vocab and concepts. I’ve always thought it would be fun to make some picture flashcards for vocab (are there any on the market?). And then you can just start with simple sentences and phrases.

Although it’s not designed specifically for children, the Lingua Latina series by Oerberg starts out with very simple sentences and then works up gradually to more complex stuff. I hear it’s a great program (haven’t tried it myself) and it is all based on stories rather than learning grammar.

I used to tutor a fairly young boy with a series called “Ars Latina”. It was more geared towards children than any other course I have seen, but far less intense (a good and bad thing…).
