Teach yourself Hebrew

This has probably been raised before, and if so, please direct me to the thread, if possible. I am interested in a Hebrew instruction book (hopefully with an answer key) that is good for self instruction. I have been doing a lot of Greek self-learning with the Mastronarde book. I would like to try Hebrew.

thankyou all in advance for any advice

Modern or biblical Hebrew?

If it’s modern Hebrew, there’s a public domain course made by the US Government Foreign Services Institute that you can download for free:

FSI Hebrew

It’s fairly heavily-weighted to audio (mp3 files), but there is a (downloadable pdf) text book, too.

Wikibooks might be in order. The hebrew one might need improvement before you can use it, though I haven’t checked it.

Biblical Hebrew, I meant to say, when I began this thread.

It looks like the wikibooks one is compatible with biblical Hebrew, though I don’t know because I do not speak Hebrew. It does mention in one of the articles “pronnounced like Kay in modern Hebrew” so that leads me to believe that it is in fact biblical Hebrew.

This? http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Hebrew

That’s modern Hebrew. Ancient Hebrew hadn’t heard yet of the existence of ?ַנגלִית.
