Someone gave me a computer. (I was thinking about getting a Mac but a free PC is just fine. Money hollers.)
On my last computer I had Tavultsoft Keyman installed. It was a home use edition and it was free. I can’t find a free version now. Is it still available?
Bert,
I think when they went to version 7 they stopped offering a free version and instead started only giving a 30 day trial. There are still some version 6.x’s (free) out there, though. There’s one on this page:

go down to: How can I download the program?
and get the zip version, which includes a 6.x version of Keyman.
Then, make sure you keep a copy of it forever, since eventually they will probably stop letting people distribute the free version, and if something ever happens to your computer, you’ll need it to re-install keyman. Otherwise, you may end up having to buy a newer version.
Great. Thanks.
Do you use Keyman with MS Word, by any chance? I do all the time, and it has this strange habit of converting certain sigmas into final sigma when it shouldn’t. It only happens with Word, so I’m guessing it’s some setting there (but I have turned off check spelling and check grammar).
It seems like the problem οξξυ?ς when you have a sigma followed by an accented vowel or vowel with iota subscript.
θάλασσα θαλάσσης are fine, but
θαλάσσῃ becomes θαλάσςῃ
Do you (or anyone else) know how to stop this? I’ve played around with lots of settings in Word, but none seem to resolve it. It doesn’t happen in any other programs, though (at least, as far as I can tell).
I tried it just now and it works fine. MS Word 2002.
