This was supposed to be a reply to the ideas/input forum. Oops.
Since I’m new here, I don’t have a feel for the history of this forum so please excuse me if I mention something that’s been tried.
I like the idea of organized sessions of some sort. I’m thinking of something like a short translation, with an answer key published at the end of the week. This project could be done biweekly or monthly also. The idea would be to publish the text, allow readers time to translate it, publish the answer key, and allow time for follow-up discussion after the answer key is posted online. That actually would work best on a longer interval such as a month.
I like the wiki idea and the podcasts, although I haven’t gotten into them very much at this point. They’re still a good resource.
On another note: donâ€:trade_mark:t overlook possible audiences outside of traditional history/classical studies areas. I got here through a very unorthodox route and so might others. English majors might want to pick up some Latin and Greek for vocabulary or to understand references that authors make to classical works. Science majors, especially in biology and life sciences, could benefit from understanding where the names of many of their day-to-day animal/vegetable enounters come from. You never know who might stop by to look up a word and end up staying for the long haul. ![]()
