Salvete

I’ve been trying to learn Latin for some time now, I’m a native spanish speaker I assumed that would make it easier since castillian (spanish) is a romance language, not quite right.
I have Lingua Latina and Wheelocks on Kindle. Lingua Latina is great, reminds me on how I was able to pick up english faster (Comic Books).
I recently saw a post from Luke Ranieri, about the Ranieri-Dowling Method, I will give that a try.
Any other recommendations for a novice?
My goal is to be able to read classics in the original latin form. I currently own a Vulgata Bible and Boethius Consolatio, but would love to read books in classical latin.

Welcome here!

I can’t purport to give you advice on Latin since my Latin is even worse than my Greek(!) but in general for language learning I like to mix my methods–use some reading, learn some grammar, practice vocabulary… I believe that in any language consistency is more important than methodology (easier said than done and I’m a hypocrite). You’ve already learned English as a second language, and it’s no different here: choose a course and work through it consistently, supplementing it with other aids and materials as you go. We have links to many materials here on Textkit. Browse through the boards, ask questions as you work through the materials. Make yourself at home. It will come.

Thanks,
What helped in English was that is very accessible and there’s good content and lots of speakers. Latin will be challenging not a lot of content but I’m going to try to get at least reading fluency in 2 years. That’s how I got fluency in English reading and consuming content on it.
My next one is Greek
