Greetings! A decade ago I took two years of Latin in college and have now been relearning it since 2020. I completed Familia Romana in December of last year. Since then I have been reading some of the vulgate, Fabulae Syrae, Fabulae Facilies and I just started reading De Bello Gallico. Additionally, I read from Liturgia Horarum most days.
I am currently a stay at home dad of four boys six and under, so 90+% of my Latin reading and listening is done watching them. After finishing FR I struggled to figure out a way to continue with Latin and eventually decided to start using Lingq. Which allows me to instantly look up words as I read and listen on my phone when I can. I highly recommend it. Everything I’ve read since finishing FR has been on it or I’ve put it on there. This allows me to read putting kids to bed or supervising the chaos.
Once I have any down time I plan to start working on Greek. I was interested in starting this before relearning Latin but I am very glad I waited, I would have wasted a lot of time trying to learn things in a way that doesn’t work well for me.
I hope to use the GI bill to go back to school eventually. My BA is in history so I may continue that or branch out. Either way I will incorporate my new language knowledge in there somehow.
