Roman Woodworking Planes

All,
I have looked under all of the rugs that I can find to see if there is a Latin word for ‘plane’ only to uncover nothing but dirt. Is there a word? I know that there were planes (http://lumberjocks.com/YorkshireStewart/blog/2154) but I am at a loss for the word to describe it.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

Cassell’s says the word you’re looking for is “runcina”. Definition 2 of “plane”: “(2) the tool, runcina (Plin.)”

Smith & Hall are in agreement: runcina (with a macron over the ‘i’).

They also give the following reference - Plin. 16, 42, 82.

Thanks for the info.
