repeated reading of Plato's Apology of Socrates

I am very glad I stumbled upon this thread. I now see that the one thing missing from my studies is the habit of rereading. I, too, am an autodidact. I did take a year of Greek at university and an intensive summer course of Latin, but most of what I have learned has been self-taught. As a semi-retired French immersion teacher, I think I can speak with some authority on second-language acquisition. It seems to me that most learning is essentially autodidactic. As a teacher, I explained as best I could certain points or grammar. I spoke to my students only in French in the conviction that they would learn far more than if I explained everything in English. Yet, they were the ones who were doing the learning! They had to read and listen to texts on their own in order to progress. I have to say that my own journey in French was almost entirely self-directed. I did go to Quebec three summers in a row to an immersion school and that did wonders for me, but all the grammar and vocabulary I learned on my own. I am very thankful for Textkit. It is a godsend.
