Relation between Greek language and Mathematics.

Hello all. This is my first topic. I am from Greece and my native language is Greek. I love very much this language. In this topic we will discuss about the relation between Greek language and Mathematics.

Greek is a language which has a good relationship with Mathematics. Don’t you believe it? Ok, I will convince you.

The phrase “length of circumference” is translated in Greek: “μήκος περιφέρειας κύκλου”.
The word “diameter” is translated in Greek: “διάμετρος”.

Now, we add the corresponding numbers of each letter, according to Greek numerals: Greek numerals - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The phrase: “μήκος περιφέρειας κύκλου”. 40 + 8 + 20 + 70 + 200 + 80 + 5 + 100 + 10 + 500 + 5 + 100 + 5 + 10 + 1 + 200 + 20 + 400 + 20 + 30 + 70 + 400 = 2294.

The phrase: “διάμετρος”. 4 + 10 + 1 + 40 + 5 + 300 + 100 + 70 + 200 = 730.

If you divide 2294 / 730, you will take the number 3.14 = π.

Is it crazy? Maybe.

Hahahahaha.

To be a bit pedantic here:

3.14 does not equal pi. Any representation of pi must be a numerical approximation. The ratio does not produce pi to even 3 digits. I know, I’m killing the fun but, honestly …
