Reading Greek augments

Working on Section 5 A-B augment (Reading Greek)

Ἐκμανθάνω = present

ἐξἐμανθανον = imperfect (?)

Is the imperfect correct?

The accent (which should look like a tiny straight line, έ not the curvy breathing at the beginning of the word ἐ), gets pushed further to the right, until it lands on the 3rd to last syllable. But otherwise, yes.

Many thanks jed - The downloaded Greek Polytonic keyboard hasn’t got any accents, and those on Lexilogos look all the same to me (new glasses needed?).I wish I knew how you and others cope with accents.

Which Operating System you using? The Greek polytonic Keyboard I get just by downloading the Microsoft Greek Language Pack for Windows 11 works fine for me (it’s a combination of using the / ; ’ # - = keys with either shift or alt gr, plus other combinations to get the accents and diacritics you want):

ά ἀ ᾆ ἆ ἃ ἁ ἄ ἅ ᾳ ᾷ ὰ ἂ

I wish I knew how you and others cope with accents.

Magic.

Thanks S. Walch - I’m still on Windows 10 and the MS Greek language pack recommended is the one I’ve got. I suspect I haven’t yet managed to work out the correct combination of keys to get the various accents. Back to the drawing board. :wink:

You can use Ctrl-Plus Sign (on the numeric keyboard) to increase the size of the font on Lexilogos.
