Quid sit vs Quid est?

I was on the Grex site and one of the li

" Quid sit Grex noster perhumaniter ac dilucide a sodale Victorio Ciarrocchi Pisaurensi explicatur."

Why didn’t they write “Quid est?”

Because it’s an indirect/reported question on account of “is explained”.
Quià est quaestio obliqua prae “explicatur” verbo principale.

Salve Adriane et gratias tibi ago.
