Is “atque istinc teque reducis” polysyndeton or must both conjunctions be translated separately. I translated these lines “why do you not steel your mind and lead yourself back from this place,” but this does not take the “-que” into account.
I’m not entirely sure, but I think the -que attached to the te works like “also”, forcing the quin to go with both questions. I’m not sure what it’s doing there otherwise.
The -que in 11 is correlative with the et in 12. It is postponed to the second word of its clause for metrical reasons – a relatively common practice.
So how would you translate this line? “… and both lead yourself back from this place and, with the gods unwilling, cease to be miserable.”?
