Pharr Discussions By Chapter

I have compiled a list of discussions from this forum and sorted them by chapter in Pharr. I also included any discussions about book I of the Iliad and assigned them to the corresponding Pharr chapter that deals with the lines in question. I think there’s a lot of great information buried in this forum that gets lost because people don’t see it. I’m hoping this will help people working their way through Pharr, since it will be easy to see all the posts related to where you are in the book. The major problem is that the majority of the posts were from the Spionic days and things in that font no longer show up properly, but there’s still great information and a ton to be learned from these:

After Pharr
http://discourse.textkit.com/t/advice-on-reading-homer/687/1

If anyone has any ideas about how to deal with the Spionic issue (an online converter, for example) that would be great.

Amazing resource! Thanks for putting this together. On multiple occasions I have tried searching through the forums with a specific question.

Very good. I think one of our esteemed moderators should mark this post so it stays at the top of the page all the time, otherwise it will get forgotten as well.

That’s a great idea edonnelly, thanks for putting it together. I also think it would be a great idea to make it a “sticky” for easy reference. I’m not sure about the easiest way to deal with the SPIonic issue, but if there’s no automatic way to convert it, this list might be small enough and valuable enough to convert each thread individually. I’d be willing to do some of the work if I could. Thanks again, Nick.

To be honest, the font issue is not that big of a deal, because if you are going to discussions that deal with the chapter you are currently working on, you are familiar enough with the words they are discussing that even if you haven’t dealt with spionic or betacode before it’s pretty easy to understand what they are saying.

Thanks to all who gave the positive feedback, too. Of course my motivation for doing this was entirely selfish, since going through Pharr is exactly what I am currently doing. I do hope it’s helpful to others, though.

Being that SPIonic is so close to Beta code I think all that would have to be done to make the old threads more readable is to remove the tags but leave the font as is.
Better would be to have this site recognize both SPIonic and Unicode.

<?xml version="1.0"?>

I asked about that once, but it doesn’t sound like it would be an easy thing to do:

Great resource, thank you! I will be beginning my trek through Pharr soon and I will certainly remember to come back here when I do.

Has anyone updated these since '07 when they were first posted? I’m sure there have been many more discussions since then.

Thanks for sharing this useful info..
