Hi all.
Could someone do me a great favour and give me the prefect tense for the following words in Latin:
I ate
I spoke
I fell
I learned
I bought
I got up
I took
I read (past)
I broke
I ran
I began
I put
I woke
I paid
I gave
Thanks,
David

There are many of us here who would be glad to help. Let us know the specific problem and post your attempt at a translation. Then we can help.

The perfect tense, as you will know, is formed from the third principal part of the Latin verb. For instance, to buy is emo, emere, emi, emptus in Latin. Look at the third principal part, emi. It’s already listed in the 1st person singular, conveniently for your purposes. If you were looking, say, for “he bought,” just drop the “i” to find the perfect stem (em- and then add the appropriate ending (in this case, -it).
Really, it’s just a matter of looking up the words in a decent English/Latin dictionary and finding the 3rd principal part. This WILL be the 1st person singular form (I did, bought, etc).
Asking us to do the dirty work for you is a bit unfair, isn’t it?
Regards,
David
