Particles

I know. It’s so sad.

By way of compensation, you could study Dutch. Particles galore, and some fine classicists, too.

I have wondered about that. Why are there so many Dutch names among the “great classicists”? Is there a greater emphasis on the classics at Dutch schools? Or possibly a better system of teaching languages?

Should someone named de Haan be asking someone named Annis that?

The Dutch may be overrepresented here due to my enthusiasm for the pairing of Classics and modern linguistics the Dutch universities seem to have the corner on.

The Dutch seem to be well represented in Egyptology, too.
