operstitium atheniense

Salvete iterum,

I can’t find a translation for “operstitium”. I thought it may be “strike”, but now think it could be something along the lines of “unrest”. Does anyone have anything more definitive?

Also, the grammar in this line, “Neque in hac animorum concitatione evitari potuit…” is confusing me somewhat. I know what’s being said, but I don’t understand why it is said in this way.

Finally, anyone know of a good online dictionary? I have a decent Collins’ one, but it comes up short when I turn to modern writings in latin.
