New to the forum

Hello everybody!

I’ve been hanging around this forum for sometime and now that i have finally started on greek it feels like a perfect time to sign up for real.

I have been doing german for 2 years and spanish for one and i have been wanting to get into a classical language for the entire time i have been working on those languages. Here i finally am and i look forward to take part in the forum.

Im slowly working through schoder /horrigans course in homeric greek. On top of this i have signed up for a class in biblical greek at my university in the fall. Does anybody have any interesting input regarding working on the two at the same time? I have read alot of discussions regarding studies of homeric and attic but i cant find anybody who has gone homeric to biblical or any discussions on that subject.

Welcome! I wouldn’t be too concerned about moving from Homeric to Koine (biblical) Greek, if I were you. Each has its own distinctive features, but they’re both ancient Greek and overlap a lot. I did the exact same thing when I was starting out, and have not suffered permanent ill effects  To me, Homeric Greek boosted my studies because it added extra fun and variety.
