Some of us are only aware of the two options. I quess we end up choosing between exlax and bran.
I have a great firewall and superb virus protection, so this has never been an issue for me. 
Um… I think PC vs. Mac vs. etc should separate from hardware and software discussions. I mean really, the hardware is very similar in most cases except for motherboard and cpu. I’m not sure what you’re getting at Will. You can install Unix in many types of machines…
That’s true. My nasty rhetoric was about the usual operating systems for those platforms (Windows family, OS 9.x and earlier). That I should need to reboot after an application befouls itself infuriates me. I have strong feelings about how software I pay big bucks for should behave, and I’ll spare you my usual frothing about software quality. Simply know that when an OS or multi-thousand dollar software packages crashes I spew forth a lot of truly foul language. I have several languages to draw on, so I can go on for a while.
My goal would be like that. When pissed off, to be able to recite in Greek something like what Achilles poured out at Hector when he begged him to let his body be returned to Troy(χ.345~).
