hi all I’m Mitch and I live in Australia near Sydney. A while ago I started to read fiction/literature again and so… ended up reading blank verse translations by Fagles of The Illiad and The Odyssey with The Aeneid next in line (though I’ve got a literature text to read for an online course I’m doing so too many books as usual).
Anyway, I’ve tried and reached a miserably bad level at some other languages so I thought Latin looks familiar and right now I’m into antiquity so here I am.

Hey everyone I’m John. I’m really interested in learning Latin and eventually Greek. I’m self teaching because my school doesn’t offer Latin or Greek. I plan to major in Classics when I graduate and go off to college and hopefully will be able to read and write fluently in Latin and be proficient in Greek by the time I graduate. If anyone has any advice for self teaching I would be really appreciative toward anyone trying to give me tips.

I am Elizabeth Anne, aged 65, British by birth but French by marriage (since December 1970).
I learned Latin at school, and have kept an interest in it ever since. I started to teach myself ancient Greek after retirement ten years ago, and followed the beginners’ course with the CNED (French national centre for distance learning). I also attended the summer school in ancient Greek (level 2) in Louvain la Neuve (Belgium) two years running (in 2011 and 2012).
I have now enrolled for the Diplôme d’Université at the University of Bordeaux by distance learning, for Latin and Greek, from September. If I can successfully complete the two-year course, I hope to enrol for a degree in Classics from September 2015. If I can manage that, I would have a degree in Classics by the time I am 71, and possibly a doctorate in ten years or so…

Hello everyone, my name is Vitor and I am from Portugal. I have long been fascinated by all aspects of ancient history, and since then I have always dreamed of learning Latin. However, my medical career led me in a different direction for many years. This year, I finally decided to pursue that dream, and I am very fortunate that my application to the University of Lisbon for Classical Studies was accepted. It feels wonderful to return to school as a student once again. My goal is to be able to read the classics—especially Stoic philosophy and the New Testament—in their original language. , I recently got very interested in learning latin so I asked an AI chat bot about it, and it recommended I check this site out. I’m somewhat of a theologian, so I would like to learn latin or Greek, so that I could possibly further my studies. Also I’ve been curious about the occult for a while now and I’m looking for ways to consciously integrate with my shadow side more. I’m not sure if there’s any correlation with Greek/latin and the occult so this is my way of finding out. If anyone could provide some sort of guidance or insight, I would greatly appreciate it.

After studying 4 parts of Henle’s Latin I found that original texts are still too difficult to read and now I’m trying to achieve more fluency by reading simple texts from graded readers.

My name is David Nicotra. I took Greek in my undergrad and again in Seminary. I also took Hebrew in seminary (I am much weaker in my Hebrew!). It has been a handful of years since I graduated seminary and I am trying to keep up with my Greek (maybe my Hebrew too someday!).
I am currently working on translating/reading through the New Testament. I would love to also do some LXX and early church father readings as well.

Hey everyone!
I recently graduated from undergrad with a degree in classics where I did a lot of ancient greek, some latin, and even a little modern greek.
I’m interested in all texts from all periods written in Ancient Greek so Homer, Thucydides, the Gospels, Jan Krešadlo’s Astronautalia, and even Ἅρειος Ποτὴρ are all in play. I have a copy of Dickey’s prose composition textbook so I one day plan on adding my own work to the Ancient Greek corpus when taken in its broadest definition.
For Latin, I wish I wanted to keep reading Latin, but I’ve kept up with Latin in flashcards only.

I am Inclitus, I’m currently studying Classics at university in the UK: really interested in classical languages and literature and other related things like digital humanities and the history of classical scholarship. My pet interest is epistolography, across all eras of Greek and Latin literature.
My Latin at the moment is quite good, my Greek is at a basic reading level but improving quite well.

I’m Cezara and in the past 2 years I have been studying Latin, Ancient Greek and ancient history. Now I am between beginner and intermediate level at those two ancient languages. I am looking forward for enrolling Classical Philology (Latin and ancient Greek- Language and Literature).
Some time ago I passed CAIE AL Classical studies exam. I am particularly fascinated about women’s power and importance in Imperial Rome and ancient Greece.
