I am now learning German and I can guarantee that it is not as hard as what many assumed - at least for reading and writing knowledge. German is more rigid in grammar than French, which proffers to beginners like me the advantage of demystifying the roles of particular words in a sentence. In particular I really appreciate the genius who invented the ‘verb at second position’ rule and the convention of capitalizing all nouns!
