LLPSI XXXIV exercises

Hi, I’m just checking whether I have the correct answers to the exercises below from LLPSI. The answer key gives different answers to mine and it’s never been wrong before.

Cap XXXIV Exercitium 2
2. Medicus scalpello suo ____________ [= miserum] puerum laesit, cum ei sanguinem mitteret.
My answer: misellum (acc to agree with puerum and match the equivalent in brackets).
Answer key: misero (which looks like it’s agreeing with scalpello)

  1. Ovidius, qui ingenium mulierum bene noverat, rationem reddit cur mulieres _________ [= delectet] spectatum ire.
My answer: iuvet (pres subj 3 sg for indirect question and to match the equivalent in brackets)
    Answer key: iuvat

I agree with you and your reasoning in both cases. The answer key seems to be wrong there.

That you need the accusative in the first sentence can be seen in lines 34, 11-13 (“… qui eum laeserant”). The word “misellus” is introduced in the sentence “misello puero sanguinem misit” (34, 7-8), where it appears in the dative, which might have somehow led to the mistake in the answer key.

The second sentence seems to be based on lines 34, 53-56.

Thank you!
