Soldiering on…
I’m seeing quite a few compound verbs in chapter 7. He’s introducing them bit by bit.
But they are almost always accompanied by the preposition which is compounded.
ê with exit
in with inest/insunt
ad with adit and advenit.
etc.
Is this just to help us beginners or is it normal usage?
It just seems redundant to me.

It’s a good question.
It is normal practice, Gildersleeve 331 Remarks 2 says " With many of these verbs the preposition may be repeated; but never “circum” : Cōpiās trāiēcit Rhodanum, or trāns Rhodanum.
And in 3. he says " Sometimes a difference of signification is caused by he addition of the preposition:
Adīre ad aliquem, to go to a man; adīre aliquem, to apply to (to consult) a man.
