I decided to start with Homeric greek. however I wanted to know if the BAGD would suffice?
Hi,
The BDAG is a marvelous dictionary. But if you’re going to do Homer (bravo!), I would urge you to get Cunliffe’s lexicon.

You probably think that they stand for Ancient Greek.

It stands for Bauer, Danker, Arndt and Gingrich.
It is THE lexicon for Biblical Greek.
Timotheus wrote BAGD. It is the second edition, BDAG is the third edition.

Ah. Probably not a good tool for reading Homer, then.
thanks, I’ll pick one up. is this something i can get from this site or doi order from barnes and noble?
I don’t think Cunliffe is available online. You can preview it at Amazon, if you want—but you won’t be disappointed.
It’s fantastic.
