Latin Pronunciation in Prose

Salvete,

I understand that one should read Latin verse by adhering to the principles of elision and of long syllables by position. Is is the same case for prose? - Should one read out syllables long by position and should one elide vowels? If so, are there any other rules in pronouncing Latin in prose and verse?

Gratias.
