latin programs

Hi Bobby,

Welcome to Textkit! I’m happy to hear you’ve found the Latin books on this site. I don’t know of any online interactive Latin sites, but I’m sure some of the more seasoned members here might know. Don’t forget to check out the Outside Links of Interest forum.

Salutations

I don’t know what you intend to do by means of a program but if you wish that you might learn Latin then Latin For Beginners is all. I say that is all.

He always says that Latin for Beginners is all. Actually, the Collar and Daniell book is good, too.

I don’t know quite what you mean by “programs,” but there are several Latin grammars, readers and books here on textkit, and the Agora is a really neat place to pratice Latin or Greek with other Textkit members. (I’ve never posted in it because the most I can say is “Domina filiam amat”, and you can’t make much of a conversation out of that!)

Here’s a good Latin drill program: http://www.ucc.uconn.edu/~hasenfra/wlatin.html

This site has crosswords and other games:

This one has lots of Latin games, and they correspond with different books/readers/authors which you can choose from (of all difficulties, but mostly beginner):

Looks neat. Does it run OK under Windows 2000? I’m always wary of installing stuff on my computer; I think my version of Windows 2000 is extra sensitive about changes of any sort. :-\

Is there anything there to correspond with D’Ooge? If not, who’s game to make some games, etc.?

Magistra

I’m afraid it doesn’t have any programs corresponding to D’ooge… only newer books (winces at the impending outcries of Episcopus).

Hmm, I haven’t tried it under Windows 2000, but it works under my copy of Windows XP, so I think it might under 2000. Give it a try.
