At my stage I can’t do “translation” into Greek. These exercises check whether I can use the proper forms and syntax, within the limits of what White’s First Greek Book has presented up to this point. Not creative and surely of no great interest to anybody but me.

Still, I hope for your corrections.

  3. They bound the guide and handed (him) over to them.

  4. She is said to have given much money to Cyrus.

  5. They gave the Greeks barbarian spears.

  6. He took the letter and gave it to Cyrus.

  7. καὶ μισθὸν αὐτοῖς οὐκ ἐδίδου.

  8. τὸν ἡγεμόνα δήσαντες αὐτοῖς παρέδοσαν.

  9. Κῡ́ρῳ λέγεται ἐκείνη χρήματα πολλά δοῦναι.

  10. τοῖς Ἕλλησιν ἔδοσαν δόρατα βαρβαρικά.

  11. τὴν ἐπιστολὴν λαβὼν τῷ Κῡ́ρῳ ἔδωκεν.

But do you mean without the article? I have Κῡ́ρῳ both times, unless my eyes are deceiving me.

No, I mean acute accent on the omicron instead of circumflex, since the final vowel is long.

Edit: Now that I’ve looked at it closely, it seems you actually wrote a macron not a circumflex. Then it’s OK.

  1. How about οὐδὲ?

  2. πολλά δοῦναι. Accent. A nice idiom you could use here is χρήματα θαυμαστὰ ὅσα.
