Salvete!

Today I stumbled upon an article, according to which part of Galileo’s _Sidereus Nuncius_ is used in a commemorative plaque on ESA’s space probe _Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer_ (“Juice”), the original Latin text, mind you. The actual pages (from one of the first 550 ever printed in 1610) can be seen [here](https://www.esa.int/ESA_Multimedia/Images/2023/01/The_inspiration_behind_Juice_s_Galileo_plaque).

The plaque itself is very dark, probably for some technical reason, but the design is recognizable in the fifth image of [this article’s gallery](https://www.esa.int/Science_Exploration/Space_Science/Juice/Galileo_tribute_unveiled_as_Juice_says_Farewell_Europe).

Nice to know, that a piece of Latin culture is going into space.

Valete,

Carolus Raeticus
