It's noobie introduction time!

I live in Auckland, New Zealand, and am a full-time student this year, and very happy that I was given the address for textkit.

I spend my spare time roleplaying, dodging swords, using public transport and window shopping. :sunglasses:

Welcome to Textkit!
Which classical languages are you studying, then?
(your username implies Latin, but I’ll not make assumptions…)

And what do you mean by ‘dodging swords’?
Are you into fencing, or perhaps medieval-ish battle recreation? (If so, I totally envy you! I collect swords, but all they do is look pretty wherever they’re displayed…)

On a more perfunctory note: feel free to contact me or any of the other moderators if you have trouble with the forums.

Otherwise, enjoy!

Thanks Raya.

Yes, I’m taking Intro Latin this year. My other papers include Vikings, Mythology and Fantasy, Early Medieval England etc.
I’m a history geek.

A lot of my mates are recreationists, and am going to be getting my own hunk of steel at some point…

Welcome fellow history geek and enjoy the wonders of Textkit!

I think Latin is better than English. I’m done lol.

Welcome to Textkit! Feel free to ask questions on the forums, and don’t forget to take a look at the books available for download from this site.

Not quite in Australia, but have you heard of the Society for Creative Anachronism? http://www.sca.org/ They do recreations here in the US.

Yes, i’ve heard of them. Somewhat akin to the Society For Scaring Normal People aka The Argent Lords here in Auckland?

Oh, and… Australia?

Eeks! I’m so embarrassed. I am so so so so sorry. Forgive me? (That’ll teach me not to post messages in a precaffeinated state!)

Precaffeinated? :open_mouth:
Oh, that explains it.
I assume you’ve got some caffeine now?

What can I say? Australians are confusing!

I don’t know what this means.

looks around I know had had my english-australian dictionary around here somewhere…

I should rephrase: I don’t know what you meant by…
